21st Century Tea Dance – Food!

21st Century Tea Dance – Food!

Entelechy takes the conventional form of the tea dance and brings it screaming and kicking into the 21st century. Dance events mix live music with video, theatre, dance performance, story-telling, tea, cake, social dancing and singing. Over the past year Tea Dances have been nurturing new and distinctive performance through collaborations between our active elder members, isolated older people at nursing and day centres, and visiting artists. Recent partners include Upswing circus company, local indie band The Nearly Perfect and the unforgettable Ida Barr.

Tea Dances are also happening in residence in the community, bringing world-class live jazz music to the corridors, gardens and bedrooms of local residents. This is part of Entelechy’s work making the walls of local homes, nursing and day centres more permeable, and support isolated older people to become vital elements of the cultural lives of their communities.

“It wasn’t long enough. Roll on the next one!”

For this Tea Dance our theme is Food! Ida Barr re-joins Entelechy’s Tea Dance team to dish up a jam packed menu of tasty delights: comedy, dance, gossip all washed down with live music from the Jive Five.
