21st Century Tea Dance – Love

Beware of Cupid’s arrow when you step into our next 21st Century Tea Dance. We’re serving up an aphrodisiac cocktail to celebrate LOVE.

Entelechy takes the conventional form of the tea dance and brings it screaming and kicking into the 21st century. Dance events mix live music with video, theatre, dance performance, story-telling, tea, cake, social dancing and singing. Over the past year Tea Dances have been nurturing new and distinctive performance through collaborations between our active elder members, isolated older people at nursing and day centres, and visiting artists. Recent partners include Upswing circus company, local indie band The Nearly Perfect and the unforgettable Ida Barr.

Tea Dances are also happening in residence in the community, bringing world-class live jazz music to the corridors, gardens and bedrooms of local residents. This is part of Entelechy’s work making the walls of local homes, nursing and day centres more permeable, and support isolated older people to become vital elements of the cultural lives of their communities.

“It wasn’t long enough. Roll on the next one!”
Ida Barr heads an intoxicating line up with live music from the Jive 5, so step into your dancing shoes and feast on our trademark mix of comedy, song, dance, gossip and tea.
